We all know that there are a whole load of hard-ass tradesman mobile phones out there, not least the Sonim XP and JCB handsets. These handsets can take a battering but like everything else, they have their limits which is why it is always advisable to get some phone insurance.

There are a number of specialist insurers that provide cover for trades-people and despite the recent PPI claims scandal, there’s still some honest policy providers amoungst them. If you do go for insurance, be sure to explain your exact employment situation and read the T’s & C’s thoroughly before agreeing anything.

Now like most people I have accidentally sent a text to the wrong person or lost signal right when it was less than convenient and as a result I have wanted to chuck my phone out the nearest window. Thing is I’m not as stupid as I look so I’ve never actually done it, but I might just be tempted now>>>

While the there may be better business mobile phones if you need email for instance it’s pretty hard to argue with the Sonim XP for it’s sheer sturdiness.

Now I mentioned my fondness for my iPhone yesterday and it would be very handy to to be able to do this so I could check my emails first thing…

I’m beginning to think Sonim may have made the ultimate trade mobile phones.

Surely a good hard stamp on any mobile phone would mess it up pretty bad… right?

Apparently not. It’s pretty impressive actually, but I’m not ready to give up my iPhone just yet.

You know that we’ve got a lot of time for tough mobile phones, they keep the tradesmen of the world in touch and connected to customers, colleages and suppliers.

But there’s very few handsets that can truely say they’re a tradesman mobile and with good reason, when you consider what a tradesman’s mobile phone will have to put up with in an average day.

So we were well impressed when JCB decided to put their ‘tough phone’ to the test, on camera and infront of all their potential customers, take a look:

Pretty impressive, especially the bit with the cement mixer. We reckon he’ll invest!
